What is Emo?

Emo comes from the word “Emotion” and when referring to a person as Emo you’re basically saying they are an emotional person.

The term emo originated in the 80’s and was a reference to a type of music. Emo was basically a different spin on punk music that eventually became more popular than punk it self. Through out the 80’s emo popularity quickly grew and developed into a cult like following. By the early 90’s emo popularity began to quiet and emo fashion and music was beginning to fade. However, emo fashion and music has made an impression on young people today. Emo popularity is once again on the rise, growing quicker and stronger that ever before. For many emo style is so much more than just fashion…it is a state of mind, emotion, music, and it’s a way of life.

Emo Hairstyles

Emo hairstyles and fashion have become very popular with young people today. The emo hairstyle is usually sharp edged and shaped. The emo hairstyle is often achieved with a razor style hair cut, a flatiron and hairspray. The emo hairstyle can take on many different forms; it can be flat ironed, spiked at askew angles, twisted, and sometimes even with bangs. One of the more common emo hairstyles would be cut sharply flat ironed with a pleat of hair pulled slightly in front of the face. Emo hairstyles are completely gender compatible, which means an emo hairstyle is basically the same for a boy as it is a girl.

Emo Hair Color

The great thing about an emo hairstyle is that it can be any color imaginable, and it will still look great. However, the most common emo hair color is black with lighter highlights. Emo hair colors may range form black, indigo blue, red, pink, or even blond.

Emo hairstyles allow people to express emotion through their hair; as it is said for a picture so can an emo hairstyle speak volumes about you. For example: A black colored emo hairstyle that is pulled in front of half the face may express emotions of mystery and intrigue to the viewer and the wearer. A pink emo hairstyle which is pulled with spikes crossing and twisted against each other may tell us that that person is wild, fun and outgoing…or just crazy!

What ever color emo hairstyle want remember the point is to just be your self and have fun with it.
